The Invincibles Team Race for Glory

The Invincibles team showed their competitive sides recently as we headed down to a local park to enjoy a fleeting spot of sunshine and relive the glory days of a primary school sports day.

Our whole Preston office laced up their trainers and got their sweatbands ready as we went down to a nearby park for an afternoon of sporting prowess. After splitting into four teams, we were ready to take on some beloved classic primary school races. There were some feats of what can only be described as pure athleticism on display as we went head to head in competitions such as the sack race, relay races, and a good old fashioned egg and spoon race.

Teams were awarded four points for a win, dropping down to one consolation point for a disappointing last-placed finish. Despite the competition initially being open as teams battled their way through three legged and wheelbarrow races, the Blue team eventually emerged victorious with a commanding ten point lead over their second place Green rivals.

A tie between second & third was settled thanks to an unusual & unexpected team-building exercise. During the heat of battle in the wheelbarrow race, one member of the team lost their wedding ring in the grass. This commenced a twenty minute detour as we searched through the grass for it, with it eventually being found by the Green team, who picked up a tie-breaking bonus point for their efforts.

After a few hours of vigorous exercise and creaking knees, the team cooled off with a trip to Preston’s New Continental pub to toast a successful afternoon of raw athleticism, missing jewelery, and calf strains – here’s to another brilliant sports day next year!
